PBS to Broadcast "Banished"

The film Banished that tells the story of the historic destruction of African American communities in the early 1900s will be shown nationally on PBS next week. The Ozarks communities of Harrison , Arkansas , and Pierce City , Missouri , as well as Forsyth County , Georgia , are featured in the film.

The 90 minute film will be screened on the series INDEPENDENT LENS by Ozark Public Television of Springfield, Missouri, on Tuesday, February 19, at 9:30 p.m. and by the Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN) on Sunday, February 24, at 11 p.m.

The Marco Williams film was premiered during the 2007 Sundance Film Festival and has been screened at film festivals across the country. In 2007 the film Banished was shown in many community screenings in Harrison , Arkansas , under the sponsorship of the Community Task Force on Race Relations.
